“freaks by me” was created by Mia Eliopoulos, also known as “me”. (Get it?) Mia is a 27 year old based in Lowell, Massachusetts. She graduated from Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2020 with a degree in Art Education.
The artist’s collection of “freaks” shows the viewer in strongly expressed terms that it is okay to have both physical and psychological faults, and encourages celebrating our uniqueness. Through her work the artist reinforces that there is a range of “feeling” that we all experience and identify with. We all have our own definition of “beauty”, and to the artist, “freaks” are beautiful. The artist is the “freak” that she depicts and so too are all those that relate to her work.
